Feynman Lectures On Gravitation by Richard Feynman Book Resume:

The Feynman Lectures on Gravitation are based on notes prepared during a course on gravitational physics that Richard Feynman taught at Caltech during the 1962-63 academic year. For several years prior to these lectures, Feynman thought long and hard about the fundamental problems in gravitational physics, yet he published very little. These lectures represent a useful record of his viewpoints and some of his insights into gravity and its application to cosmology, superstars, wormholes, and gravitational waves at that particular time. The lectures also contain a number of fascinating digressions and asides on the foundations of physics and other issues.Characteristically, Feynman took an untraditional non-geometric approach to gravitation and general relativity based on the underlying quantum aspects of gravity. Hence, these lectures contain a unique pedagogical account of the development of Einstein's general theory of relativity as the inevitable result of the demand for a self-consistent theory of a massless spin-2 field (the graviton) coupled to the energy-momentum tensor of matter. This approach also demonstrates the intimate and fundamental connection between gauge invariance and the principle of equivalence.

Isaac Newton vs. Robert Hooke on the law of universal gravitation by Nicolae Sfetcu Book Resume:

One of the most disputed controversy over the priority of scientific discoveries is that of the law of universal gravitation, between Isaac Newton and Robert Hooke. Hooke accused Newton of plagiarism, of taking over his ideas expressed in previous works. In this paper I try to show, on the basis of previous analysis, that both scientists were wrong: Robert Hooke because his theory was basically only ideas that would never have materialized without Isaac Newton's mathematical support; and the latter was wrong by not recognizing Hooke's ideas in drawing up the theory of gravity. Moreover, after Hooke's death and taking over the Royal Society presidency, Newton removed from the institution any trace of the former president Robert Hooke. For this, I detail the accusations and arguments of each of the parts, and how this dispute was perceived by the contemporaries of the two scientists. I finish the paper with the conclusions drawn from the contents. Keywords: Isaac Newton, Robert Hooke, law of gravity, priority, plagiarism CONTENTS Abstract Introduction Robert Hooke's contribution to the law of universal gravitation Isaac Newton's contribution to the law of universal gravitation Robert Hooke's claim of his priority on the law of universal gravitation Newton's defense The controversy in the opinion of other contemporary scientists What the supporters of Isaac Newton say What the supporters of Robert Hooke say Conclusions Bibliography DOI: 10.13140/RG.2.2.19370.26567

The Law of Rhythm by IntroBooks Team Book Resume:

The Law of Rhythm: Seven Universal Laws Has anyone felt that the Law of Rhythm causes the swing? The seven prevailing universal laws may sum up the legitimate answer to this common query. There are seven key Universal rules or concepts that have persisted since human energy came into material reality, without exception, that people have worked within. Before people could think through words within a practiced spoken language, human knowledge and inner knowledge came from intuition via the physical being's feeling sensations. Technically, people have been streamlined by learning a language or removed from their actual inner being and understanding. Individuals are now reliant on input outside of themselves, and they have now overlooked their direct link to these Seven Universal Laws that defy thinking because of the said disconnection. It is not necessary to research or master these rules. It can simply be done by recognizing the experiences. To illustrate, people have not learned the law of gravity, but they live and function entirely inside it, never floating up in the air since people don't understand it. To remain on the field, people get it because they live it. They don't have to justify it because it is their own experience. The swing of the pendulum related to the Law of Rhythm takes its own course, building upon the Law of Polarity elements. The Law of Rhythm reflects the fact that, from one place to another, everything happens in a conscious movement, going in and out, moving backward and forward, rising and dropping, draining away and flowing again. Energy always flows, never really sits idle. It is never immobile and ever on the move!

Causality and Locality in Modern Physics by G. Hunter,Stanley Jeffers,J.P. Vigier Book Resume:

The Symposium entitled: Causality and Locality in Modern Physics and As tronomy: Open Questions and Possible Solutions was held at York University, Toronto, during the last week of August 1997. It was a sequel to a similar sym posium entitled: The Present Status of the Quantum Theory of Light held at the same venue in August 1995. These symposia came about as a result of discussions between Professor Stanley Jeffers and colleagues on the International Organizing Committee. Professor Jeffers was the executive local organizer of the symposia. The 1997 symposium attracted over 120 participants representing 26 different countries and academic institutions. The broad theme of both symposia was the enigma of modern physics: the non-local, and possibly superluminal interactions implied by quantum mechanics, the structure of fundamental particles including the photon, the reconciliation of quantum mechanics with the theory of relativity, and the nature of gravity and inertia. Jean-Pierre Vigier was the guest of honour at both symposia. He was a lively contributor to the discussions of the presentations. The presentations were made as 30-minute lectures, or during an evening poster session. Some participants did not submit a written account of their presentation at the symposium, and not all of the articles submitted for the Proceedings could be included because of the publisher's page limit. The titles and authors of the papers that had to be excluded are listed in an appendix.

The Grand Design by Stephen Hawking,Leonard Mlodinow Book Resume:

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER When and how did the universe begin? Why are we here? What is the nature of reality? Is the apparent “grand design” of our universe evidence of a benevolent creator who set things in motion—or does science offer another explanation? In this startling and lavishly illustrated book, Stephen Hawking and Leonard Mlodinow present the most recent scientific thinking about these and other abiding mysteries of the universe, in nontechnical language marked by brilliance and simplicity. According to quantum theory, the cosmos does not have just a single existence or history. The authors explain that we ourselves are the product of quantum fluctuations in the early universe, and show how quantum theory predicts the “multiverse”—the idea that ours is just one of many universes that appeared spontaneously out of nothing, each with different laws of nature. They conclude with a riveting assessment of M-theory, an explanation of the laws governing our universe that is currently the only viable candidate for a “theory of everything”: the unified theory that Einstein was looking for, which, if confirmed, would represent the ultimate triumph of human reason.

Newton's Gravity by Douglas W. MacDougal Book Resume:

“Newton’s Gravity” conveys the power of simple mathematics to tell the fundamental truth about nature. Many people, for example, know the tides are caused by the pull of the Moon and to a lesser extent the Sun. But very few can explain exactly how and why that happens. Fewer still can calculate the actual pulls of the Moon and Sun on the oceans. This book shows in clear detail how to do this with simple tools. It uniquely crosses disciplines – history, astronomy, physics and mathematics – and takes pains to explain things frequently passed over or taken for granted in other books. Using a problem-based approach, “Newton’s Gravity” explores the surprisingly basic mathematics behind gravity, the most fundamental force that governs the movements of satellites, planets, and the stars. Author Douglas W. MacDougal uses actual problems from the history of astronomy, as well as original examples, to deepen understanding of how discoveries were made and what they mean. “Newton’s Gravity” concentrates strongly on the development of the science of orbital motion, beginning with Galileo, Kepler, and Newton, each of whom is prominently represented. Quotes and problems from Galileo’s Dialogs Concerning Two New Sciences and particularly Newton’s Principia help the reader get inside the mind of those thinkers and see the problems as they saw them, and experience their concise and typically eloquent writing. This book enables students and curious minds to explore the mysteries of celestial motion without having to know advanced mathematics. It will whet the reader’s curiosity to explore further and provide him or her the tools (mathematical or physical) to do so.

The bicycle is a common, yet unique mechanical contraption in our world. In spite of this, the bike's physical and mechanical principles are understood by a select few. You do not have to be a genius to join this small group of people who understand the physics of cycling. This is your guide to fundamental principles (such as Newton's laws) and the book provides intuitive, basic explanations for the bicycle's behaviour. Each concept is introduced and illustrated with simple, everyday examples. Although cycling is viewed by most as a fun activity, and almost everyone acquires the basic skills at a young age, few understand the laws of nature that give magic to the ride. This is a closer look at some of these fun, exhilarating, and magical aspects of cycling. In the reading, you will also understand other physical principles such as motion, force, energy, power, heat, and temperature.

Inertia and Gravitation by Herbert Pfister,Markus King Book Resume:

This book focuses on the phenomena of inertia and gravitation, one objective being to shed some new light on the basic laws of gravitational interaction and the fundamental nature and structures of spacetime. Chapter 1 is devoted to an extensive, partly new analysis of the law of inertia. The underlying mathematical and geometrical structure of Newtonian spacetime is presented from a four-dimensional point of view, and some historical difficulties and controversies - in particular the concepts of free particles and straight lines - are critically analyzed, while connections to projective geometry are also explored. The relativistic extensions of the law of gravitation and its intriguing consequences are studied in Chapter 2. This is achieved, following the works of Weyl, Ehlers, Pirani and Schild, by adopting a point of view of the combined conformal and projective structure of spacetime. Specifically, Mach’s fundamental critique of Newton’s concepts of ‘absolute space’ and ‘absolute time’ was a decisive motivation for Einstein’s development of general relativity, and his equivalence principle provided a new perspective on inertia. In Chapter 3 the very special mathematical structure of Einstein’s field equations is analyzed, and some of their remarkable physical predictions are presented. By analyzing different types of dragging phenomena, Chapter 4 reviews to what extent the equivalence principle is realized in general relativity - a question intimately connected to the ‘new force’ of gravitomagnetism, which was theoretically predicted by Einstein and Thirring but which was only recently experimentally confirmed and is thus of current interest.

Shifting Centres of Gravity in Human Rights Protection by Oddný Mjöll Arnardóttir,Antoine Buyse Book Resume:

This book brings together researchers from the fields of international human rights law, EU law and constitutional law to reflect on the tug-of-war over the positioning of the centre of gravity of human rights protection in Europe. It addresses both the position of the Convention system vis-à-vis the Contracting States, and its positioning with respect to fundamental rights protection in the European Union. The first part of the book focuses on interactions in this triangle from an institutional and constitutional point of view and reflects on how the key actors are trying to define their relationship with one another in a never-ending process. Having thus set the scene, the second part takes a critical look at the tools that have been developed at European level for navigating these complex relationships, in order to identify whether they are capable of responding effectively to the complexities of emerging realities in the triangular relationship between the EHCR, EU law and national law. The Mind’s Interaction with the Laws of Physics and Cosmology by Jeffrey S Keen Book Resume:

This ground-breaking book is about the emerging academic and practical study of subtle energies, which historically, have not been easy to detect. The unique experiments, numerous measurements, and resulting data presented here, have been collected over 30 years of research. The findings have resulted from pioneering discoveries leading to equations, graphs, universal constants, formulae, and laws of nature that eventually connect to cosmology, and the structure of the universe. The book proves, with high scientific and mathematical precision, that consciousness involves more than just the brain, but actually depends on the very fabric of the universe. Some of the discoveries prove that certain information can be communicated across the solar system, not only faster than light, but instantaneously. The book deals with the entanglement of large objects, and the fact that the cosmos possesses a universal consciousness. Also shown is that the mind can detect information from the outer planets, and identifies connections to a five dimensional universe and the mysterious, recently discovered dark energy. This text will be of interest to the considerable number of people worldwide involved in similar studies. These include researchers at universities and colleges currently or wishing to teach and develop this up-and-coming subject, non-professionals, and members of relevant academic societies.

The Law of Causality and Its Limits by Philipp Frank Book Resume:

The Law of Causality and its Limits was the principal philosophical work of the physicist turned philosopher, Philipp Frank. Born in Vienna on March 20, 1884, Frank died in Cambridge, Massachusetts on July 21, 1966. He received his doctorate in 1907 at the University of Vienna in theoretical physics, having studied under Ludwig Boltzmann; his sub sequent research in physics and mathematics was represented by more than 60 scientific papers. Moreover his great success as teacher and expositor was recognized throughout the scientific world with publication of his collaborative Die Differentialgleichungen der Mechanik und Physik, with Richard von Mises, in 1925-27. Frank was responsible for the second volume, on physics, and especially noted for his authoritative article on classical Hamiltonian mechanics and optics. Among his earliest papers were those, beginning in 1908, devoted to special relativity, which together with general relativity and physical cosmology occupied him throughout his life. Already in 1907, Frank published his seminal paper 'Kausalgesetz und Erfahrung' ('Experience and the Law of Causality'), much later collected with a splendid selection of his essays on philosophy of science, in English (1941c and 1949g, in our Bibliography). Joining the first 'Vienna Circle' in the first decade of the 20th century, with Hans Hahn, mathematician, and Otto Neurath, sociologist and economist, and deeply influenced by studies of Ernst Mach's critical conceptual histories of science and by the striking challenge of Poincare and Duhem, Frank continued his epistemological investigations.

The Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy by Isaac Newton Book Resume:

The Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy Isaac Newton - It was Isaac Newton's Principia that founded the law of universal gravitation on 5th July 1687. It is the same principia that inspired Albert Einstein into formulating the Einstein field equations (the general relativity theory). It is still the same principia, I believe, will lead us to the quantum theory of gravity (Quantum gravity)According to Newtons Principia, the force of gravity governs the movement of bodies in the solar system. It is this simple mathematical law which determines the motion of bodies. The force of gravity accurately predicts the planetary orbits, it was used to put the first man on the moon, it predicts the return of comets, the rotation of galaxies, the solar eclipses, artificial satellites, satellite communications and television, the GPS and interplanetary probes. I almost forgot, it is why NASA was established in the first place.

Great Grace by Dr. Philip D. Derber Book Resume:

A reportedly "new" phenomenon has been sweeping across the globe. It is being preached from pulpits and broadcast on "Christian" television programs worldwide, that this new revelation has the power to make those who receive it and believe it, truly free. "Your performance doesn't matter, whether you sin or not. It's all covered under the grace of Jesus Christ," they say. But is this really a "new" phenomenon, or just an old attack of the enemy resurfacing in an attempt to once again derail the church? Having been delivered from a fourteen year drug addiction, Dr. Philip D. Derber knows the effect of taking a sleeping pill. Through its subtle witchcraft and sorceries (pharmakeia, or "pharmacy" from the original Greek New Testament), the false grace message can have a similar effect on believers as it is swallowed down... rendering them spiritually and morally unconscious! As you read through these pages, you will be empowered to avoid the effects of the grace sleeping pill.

The Probability of God by Dr. Stephen D. Unwin Book Resume:

Does God exist? This is probably the most debated question in the history of mankind. Scholars, scientists, and philosophers have spent their lifetimes trying to prove or disprove the existence of God, only to have their theories crucified by other scholars, scientists, and philosophers. Where the debate breaks down is in the ambiguities and colloquialisms of language. But, by using a universal, unambiguous language—namely, mathematics—can this question finally be answered definitively? That’s what Dr. Stephen Unwin attempts to do in this riveting, accessible, and witty book, The Probability of God. At its core, this groundbreaking book reveals how a math equation developed more than 200 years ago by noted European philosopher Thomas Bayes can be used to calculate the probability that God exists. The equation itself is much more complicated than a simple coin toss (heads, He’s up there running the show; tails, He’s not). Yet Dr. Unwin writes with a clarity that makes his mathematical proof easy for even the nonmathematician to understand and a verve that makes his book a delight to read. Leading you carefully through each step in his argument, he demonstrates in the end that God does indeed exist. Whether you’re a devout believer and agree with Dr. Unwin’s proof or are unsure about all things divine, you will find this provocative book enlightening and engaging.

The Shocking Truths about Heaven, Hell and Your Birthright Blessing by Franklin T. Gibbs Book Resume:

This book reveals what you always wanted to know about the issues of life, death and the afterlife. Supported by Scriptures, it reveals shocking truths about heaven, hell and your birthright blessing. There're four components to God’s birthright (covenant) blessing which are His (1) word blessing, (2) peach blessing, (3) wealth blessing, and (4) eternal life blessing. God set this inheritance aside for you before you were born. There's enough abundance in your birthright blessing to fulfill every need you have. It entitles you to dwell in a land of utopia whereby your peace, health, friendships, quality of life, holiness and well being are absolutely perfect. Speaking of the good life, it doesn't get any better than this. This book shows that (1) you have a personal calling on your life (you’re created for a purpose), and (2) your racial group has a calling to fulfill. You need to know your personal and racial callings, for they are eternal. Before you can appreciate what God has in store for you, you need to know who you are (the real you that God created you to be). This book reveals the real you. This book also confirms the reality and location of heaven and the materials saints’ new bodies will be made of. It shows what saints do in Paradise now and forevermore. You'll be delighted and pleasantly surprised to know your heavenly activities. This book reveals (1) where Hades is located (the temporary abode of sinners called the region of disembodied spirits), (2) where the permanent place of torment is located called the eternal lake of fire, and (3) the cursed materials sinners’ bodies will consist of. In hell, sinners' bodies will burn to ashes and be recycled to burn all over again. God's Scriptures confirm these truths.

The Divine Sting by Frederick Bauer Book Resume:

Are beliefs in God and in the soul merely relics of pre-scientific superstition? After all, in the twentieth and twenty-first centuriesthe so-called age of sciencewe know that science can be proven by its fruits: its helped us split the atom and put men on the moon. Religious faith, on the other hand, couldnt accomplish these feats. This conflict leaves modern-day Christians challenged by materialist atheists who claim that faith in God has been discredited by modern physics and psychology. The Divine Sting answers their challenge. Contrary to what most Christians think, belief in God and the soul need not remain matters of religious faith. In fact, it is the atheists themselves who ignore Einsteins shocking revelation about modern sciencethat the physical universe, including the human body and its brain, have never been observed. We have rather only observed mental effects whose source we can only guess at. Atheists naive claims about scientific observation are themselves nothing less than an article of anti-scientific faith. By integrating facts traditionally segregated into categories of philosophy versus theology versus modern science, The Divine Sting will assist you in discovering for yourself how to convert faith in God and belief in the soul into solid, impregnable, and justifiably certain science.

Can the Laws of Physics Be Unified? by Paul Langacker Book Resume:

A concise introduction to the cutting-edge science of particle physics The standard model of particle physics describes our current understanding of nature's fundamental particles and their interactions, yet gaps remain. For example, it does not include a quantum theory of gravity, nor does it explain the existence of dark matter. Once complete, however, the standard model could provide a unified description of the very building blocks of the universe. Researchers have been chasing this dream for decades, and many wonder whether such a dream can ever be made a reality. Can the Laws of Physics Be Unified? is a short introduction to this exciting frontier of physics. The book is accessibly written for students and researchers across the sciences, and for scientifically minded general readers. Paul Langacker begins with an overview of the key breakthroughs that have shaped the standard model, and then describes the fundamental particles, their interactions, and their role in cosmology. He goes on to explain field theory, internal symmetries, Yang-Mills theories, strong and electroweak interactions, the Higgs boson discovery, and neutrino physics. Langacker then looks at the questions that are still unanswered: What is the nature of the mysterious dark matter and dark energy that make up roughly 95 percent of the universe? Why is there more matter than antimatter? How can we reconcile quantum mechanics and general relativity? Can the Laws of Physics Be Unified? describes the promising theoretical ideas and new experiments that could provide answers and weighs our prospects for establishing a truly unified theory of the smallest constituents of nature and their interactions.
