Join Joe and his Echo Team as they face off against sub-human horrors and villains that Ledger's team set out to make sure the world will never know in this heart-pounding bundle containing Patient Zero, The Dragon Factory, and The King of Plagues! And that's both a good, and a bad thing. It's good because he's a Baltimore detective that has just been secretly recruited by the government to lead a new taskforce created to deal with the problems that Homeland Security can't handle. This rapid response group is called the Department of Military Sciences or the DMS for short. It's bad because his first mission is to help stop a group of terrorists from releasing a dreadful bio-weapon that can turn ordinary people into zombies. The fate of the world hangs in the balance.... In The Dragon Factory, Joe Ledger and the DMS (Department of Military Sciences) are called upon again to go up against two competing groups of geneticists. One side is creating exotic transgenic monsters and genetically enhanced mercenary armies; the other is using 21st century technology to continue the Nazi Master Race program begun by Josef Mengele. Both sides want to see the DMS destroyed, and they've drawn first blood. Neither side is prepared for Ledger as he leads Echo Team to war under a black flag. In The King of Plagues it's Saturday at 09:11 Hours when a blast rocks a London hospital and thousands are left dead or injured... At 10:09 Hours: Joe Ledger arrives on scene to investigate. The horror is unlike anything he has ever seen. Compelled by grief and rage, Joe rejoins the DMS and within hours is attacked by a hit-team of assassins and sent on a suicide mission into a viral hot zone during an Ebola outbreak. Soon Joe Ledger and the Department of Military Sciences begin tearing down the veils of deception to uncover a vast and powerful secret society using weaponized versions of the Ten Plagues of Egypt to destabilize world economies and profit from the resulting chaos. Millions will die unless Joe Ledger meets the this powerful new enemy on their own terms as he fights terror with terror.

The Joe Ledger Series, Thus Far by Jonathan Maberry Book Resume:

#1 New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Maberry is a master of horror. His imagination is the fodder for our worst nightmares. Here together for the first time are eight novels of Maberry’s spine-tingling Joe Ledger series: Patient Zero introduces readers to the legend that is Joe Ledger and to the secret government agency, the Department of Military Sciences (DMS) that recruits him. Terrorists have a death-defying bioweapon that threatens to turn innocent civilians into man-eating zombies. In Dragon Factory, Joe Ledger and the DMS face-off against two competing groups of geneticists. One side is creating exotic transgenic monsters and enhanced mercenary armies; the other is using modern technology to continue the Nazi Master Race program begun by Josef Mengele. King of Plagues introduces Joe and his DMS team to a massively powerful secret society bent on world destruction. They plan to use the Ten Plagues of Egypt to destroy global economies unless Joe can stop them. In Assassin’s Code, Joe Ledger and Echo Team go on a relentless chase to stop an ancient order of killers from plunging the world into Holy War. When they rescue American hostages, the Iranian government asks them to help find six nuclear bombs, a chase that leads them into vaults of forbidden knowledge, mass-murder, and a brotherhood of genetically-engineered blood-thirsty killers. Extinction Machine finds UFOs in the sky, the president of the United States missing, and Joe Ledger and the Department of Military Sciences rushing headlong into the world's deadliest arms race. The global sprint to retro-engineer alien technologies halts when someone—or something—wants that technology back. Code Zero is the exciting and direct sequel to Patient Zero. A highly elite team of killers breaks through unbreakable security and steals the world's most dangerous weapons. Within days there are outbreaks of mass slaughter and murderous insanity. Joe Ledger must stop the Land of the Free from turning into a land of the dead. When armies of killer drones explode across the nation, on baseball’s opening day, Joe Ledger and his team realize that American technology has been compromised at all levels, most importantly, on Air Force One. The president is trapped, and the plane is now a missal; it has become Predator One. In Kill Switch, a terrifying new kind of assassin has the power to take over people’s minds in order to wreak chaos on the world. A terrorist group has acquired one hundred E-bombs. Each bomb's electromagnetic pulse is powerful enough to blow out all power and all technology from a major city. Joe must stop the criminals waiting for the lights to go out.

Only for those I love would I traipse into the merciless Northlands to risk life, limb, and my exquisite beauty. But do they appreciate it? Do they say, "Gwenvael the Handsome, you are the best among us--the most loved of all dragons?" No! For centuries my family has refused to acknowledge my magnificence as well as my innate humility. Yet for them, and because I am so chivalrous, I will brave the worst this land has to offer. So here I stand, waiting to broker an alliance with the one the Northlanders call The Beast. A being so fearful, the greatest warriors will only whisper its name. Yet I, Gwenvael, will courageously face down this terrifying. . .woman? It turns out the Beast, a.k.a. Dagmar Reinholdt, is a woman--one with steel-gray eyes and a shocking disregard for my good looks. Beneath her plain robes and prim spectacles lies a sensual creature waiting to be unleashed. Who better than a dragon to thaw out that icy demeanor? And who better than a beast to finally tame a mighty dragon's heart? "Sexy and outrageous humor." --Romantic Times I know what they see when they look at me. The charming, soft-spoken dragoness bred from the most powerful of royal bloodlines. A disguise stronger than any battle shield that allows me to keep all suitors at tail's length. A technique that's worked until him. Until Ragnar the Cunning, handsome barbarian warlord and warrior mage from the desolate Northlands. Unlike those who've come before him, he does not simply submit to my astounding charm and devastating smile. Instead, he dismisses me as vapid, useless and, to my great annoyance, rather stupid! Yet I'll allow no male to dismiss me. Soon he'll learn my worth, my many skills, and the strength of my will. For this one challenges me enough to make me want to ruthlessly taunt him, tease him and, finally, when the trap is set, bring him to his knees. I was raised for battle. And as the first daughter of a warrior family, I've earned my reputation the hard way. Yet now I fight alongside uncivilized male Northland dragons who think a female is only good for breeding and waiting back home in the cave. But it's the foolish and foolhardy who would try to stop me, Rhona the Fearless, from doing what I do best—destroying the enemies of my kind. So the smartest thing wily barbarian Vigholf the Abhorrent can do for me is stay out of my way as we risk all on a deadly mission in enemy territory. I don't care if he's fascinated by me, even though he is as attractive as he is resourceful. He's having far too much fun putting me in difficult situations and testing my sense of duty to the limit. And I'm going to enjoy challenging his insufferable confidence, outwitting his schemes, and making him surrender in the wildest ways. . . "Sexy and outrageous humor." --Romantic Times Some things never go away, like vile enemies, bad ale, and annoying kin. But I thought I was finished with the one dragon I'd have done anything for: Éibhear the Blue, a big, gorgeous, blue-haired beast who thinks the world belongs to him. The world and, apparently, me. So if Éibhear wants to play the caring hero and travel into the most forsaken of Gods forsaken lands to protect the one woman who doesn't need it--namely me--I'll let him. Because while I'm trying to fulfill a ridiculous quest for a pushy god, I'm going to draw this overconfident warlord much too close, rekindle his fires, and enjoy every minute of his delicious defeat. . . “Joe Nassise has raised the bar for the whole genre.” —Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author of The Dragon Factory Combine the take-no-prisoners heroic grit of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds with the irreverent inventiveness of George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, set it on the blood-and-gore-soaked European battlefields of World War One, and you get By the Blood of Heroes, a wildly imaginative alternate history zombie novel by acclaimed urban fantasy author Joseph Nassise. When the German high command employs a terrible new chemical weapon that reanimates the dead, Allied forces must take on the Kaiser’s zombie army in order to rescue a downed American flying ace in the first book of Nassise’s The Great Undead War saga. By the Blood of Heroes is a deliciously gruesome adventure that horror and alternate history lovers, steampunk aficionados, and fans of such zombie-centric offerings as TV’s The Walking Dead, popular literature’s World War Z, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and Zombie Haiku, and the Resident Evil video game and film series will eagerly devour.

When Princess Ozma goes missing from her palace in the Emerald City, and the instruments upon which Glinda the Good Witch and the Wizard of Oz are nowhere to be found, Dorothy bravely gathers a group of trustworthy companions in order to solve the mystery. With Glinda, the Wizard, Button-Bright, Trot, and Betsy Bobbin, Dorothy journeys west across the Land of Oz to Winkie Country. On the plateau of the Yips, they learn that Cayke the cookie cook has lost her magic dishpan before continuing on to the lost lands of Herku. There, the generous Czarover of Herku tells them a tale of the evil Ugu the Shoemaker, a wicked enchanter who lives in a castle high in the mountains of Herku. With her trusted companions at her side, Dorothy is willing to face down even the darkest of dangers in order to not only rescue the Princess, but restore the magical powers of Oz to those who would use them for good. The Dragon's Gift by Deborah Brautigam Book Resume:

Is China a rogue donor, as some media pundits suggest? Or is China helping the developing world pave a pathway out of poverty, as the Chinese claim? In the last few years, China's aid program has leapt out of the shadows. Media reports about huge aid packages, support for pariah regimes, regiments of Chinese labor, and the ruthless exploitation of workers and natural resources in some of the poorest countries in the world sparked fierce debates. These debates, however, took place with very few hard facts. China's tradition of secrecy about its aid fueled rumors and speculation, making it difficult to gauge the risks and opportunities provided by China's growing embrace. This well-timed book, by one of the world's leading experts, provides the first comprehensive account of China's aid and economic cooperation overseas. Deborah Brautigam tackles the myths and realities, explaining what the Chinese are doing, how they do it, how much aid they give, and how it all fits into their "going global" strategy. Drawing on three decades of experience in China and Africa, and hundreds of interviews in Africa, China, Europe and the US, Brautigam shines new light on a topic of great interest. China has ended poverty for hundreds of millions of its own citizens. Will Chinese engagement benefit Africa? Using hard data and a series of vivid stories ranging across agriculture, industry, natural resources, and governance, Brautigam's fascinating book provides an answer. It is essential reading for anyone concerned with China's rise, and what it might mean for the challenge of ending poverty in Africa.

Fairy Tales and Fables from Weimar Days by Jack Zipes Book Resume:

This book is a collection of traditional German fairy tales and fables, deliberately transformed into utopian narratives and social commentary by political activists in the Weimar Republic (1919-1933). Against a backdrop of financial and political instability, widespread homelessness, and the reformation of public institutions, numerous gifted writers such as Berta Lask, Kurt Schwitters, Hermynia zur Mühlen, Oskar Maria Graf, Bruno Schönlank, and Joachim Ringelnatz responded to the need for hope among the common people by creating fairy tales and fables that offered a new and critical vision of social conditions. Though many of their tales deal with the grim situation of common people and their apparent helplessness, they are founded on the principle of hope. This revised edition includes over 50 illustrations by contemporary international artists who reveal how similar the Weimar conditions were to the conditions in which we presently live. In this respect, the Weimar fairy tales and fables have not lost their spirit and significance.

The Dragon in Shallow Waters by V. Sackville-West Book Resume:

The Dragon in Shallow Waters (1921) is a novel by Vita Sackville-West. While she is most widely recognized as the lover of English novelist Virginia Woolf, Sackville-West was a popular and gifted poet, playwright, and novelist in her own right. A prominent lesbian and bohemian figure, Sackville-West was also the daughter of an English Baron, granting her a unique and often divided perspective on life in the twentieth century. The Dragon in Shallow Waters, her second novel, is a tale of family, jealousy, and murder. “Outside the windows three chimneys reared their heads side by side, emitting three parallel streams of smoke, gigantic black plumes that floated horizontally away over the flooded country, and that at night were flecked with red sparks as they flowed out from the red glare at their base.” At the edge of the moors, a harsh and bleak environment, a flaming, smoking factory churns out perfumes and soaps for the people of England. Brothers Silas and Gregory Dene live together in a cottage not far from the hulking expanse of the factory, and like most of their neighbors depend on the site for their livelihoods. Consumed with jealousy, Silas—a blind man—has already murdered his wife, and as the story unfolds seems more than willing to kill again. With a beautifully designed cover and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of Vita Sackville-West’s The Dragon in Shallow Waters is a classic of English literature reimagined for modern readers.

Managing the Dragon by Jack Perkowski Book Resume:

The first book by a westerner who built a company in China from scratch The emergence of China as a world economic power is one of the biggest stories of our time. Every business that intends to be an important part of the fast-changing global economy needs to know how to play the game in China. Who better to be your guide than Jack Perkowski, the pioneer who went to China in the early 1990s. Equipped with just a concept, he built a company step-by-step from the ground up–ASIMCO Technologies–that became a major player in China’s fast-growing automotive business. Perkowski’s story is as rich, involving, and improbable as those of nineteenth-century titans such as Rockefeller and Carnegie or of twentieth-century ones like Michael Dell and Bill Gates, but with one obvious difference: They and others built their companies when America was emerging or dominant. Perkowski built his at the dawn of the Chinese century. Perkowski’s insights about the challenges and potential of western involvement in today’s great Chinese expansion–gained on the ground in China itself over the past fifteen years–are of inestimable value and relevance to us all. For instance: • The good news about China: Everything is possible. The bad news: Nothing is easy. • To build a business in China, you must develop a local management team–avoiding both former bureaucrats of the state-run enterprises and the country’s new breed of wildcat entrepreneurs. • You must learn the real reason why China is able to produce goods so cheaply. • Forget your notions about the Chinese economy being rigidly controlled by Beijing–it is, in fact, highly decentralized and locally driven. As the Chinese say, “The mountains are high and the emperor is far away.” Perkowski tells his story with clarity, lots of humor, and a gripping sense of adventure. He takes us along on his own version of the Long March, when he visited two factories a day for nine months, hitting every province, going through endless rounds of dinners and the inevitable drinking games, and eating what seemed like every part of every animal. He vividly describes what it’s like to be a westerner living and working in China and the dramatic transformation he’s seen in the country, from a place left behind by the modern world to a place where a new world is being born. Filled with hard-nosed lessons for anyone with ambitions of breaking into the Chinese market, and a rich source of practical wisdom about the realities of China today, Managing the Dragon answers the questions people ask Perkowski most often about his unique experience, as well as those they never think of asking–but should.
