The Rogue Beyond the Wall Series: Book 2 A storm is brewing and mystery awaits. Nicholas is at a monastery in Tibinda on a journey of healing that he hopes puts him back on the proper path. If only he knew of his father's whereabouts and safety, which plagues him day and night and leaves little room for rest. None of this impacts his curiosity and desire for knowledge, though, which he learns quickly gets him into quite a bit of trouble with the three monks. But there is honestly no need to worry as his father is on an adventure of his own. Isaiah has made it out of Haven and into Roupan, where he boards an elf wingship and meets more than just the mythical elves. Here Isaiah lands himself in a situation that is all too familiar, yet he doesn't realize it, and ends up in a land that humans can only dream about. Eventually son and father, along with the spirit of Brida, come together again, igniting a tempest as expectations clash and emotions run high. It will appear this family is ripping at the seams, and there is nothing Brida can do but watch as all she loves falls apart before her eyes. ~*~ Editorial Reviews “An epic reunion of father and son as the fate of the wider world looms above them.” --Readers' Favorite * “Author Giselle Jeffries Schneider has certainly crafted an epic for serious fantasy enthusiasts, but the book reads with a flighty pace that will keep YA readers engaged throughout.” --Readers' Favorite * “Nicholas is an especially endearing young hero that readers are sure to root for.” --Readers' Favorite * “I would highly recommend Tempest of the Rogue for fans of the existing series and new readers seeking a deep and well-constructed fantasy world to get lost in.” --Readers' Favorite * “Lovers of Tamora Pierce's Numair Chronicles will enjoy this prequel to The Sorceress Saga.” --Goodreads Reader * “An epic tale filled with magic, fae, family dynamics, and survival. Transnational Gothic by Monika Elbert Book Resume:

Offering a variety of critical approaches to late eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Gothic literature, this collection provides a transnational view of the emergence and flowering of the Gothic. The essays expand on now well-known approaches to the Gothic (such as those that concentrate exclusively on race, gender, or nation) by focusing on international issues: religious traditions, social reform, economic and financial pitfalls, manifest destiny and expansion, changing concepts of nationhood, and destabilizing moments of empire-building. By examining a wide array of Gothic texts, including novels, drama, and poetry, the contributors present the Gothic not as a peripheral, marginal genre, but as a central mode of literary exchange in an ever-expanding global context. Thus the traditional conventions of the Gothic, such as those associated with Ann Radcliffe and Monk Lewis, are read alongside unexpected Gothic formulations and lesser-known Gothic authors and texts. These include Mary Rowlandson and Bram Stoker, Frances and Anthony Trollope, Louisa May Alcott, Elizabeth Gaskell, Theodore Dreiser, Rudyard Kipling, and Lafcadio Hearn, as well as the actors Edmund Kean and George Frederick Cooke. Individually and collectively, the essays provide a much-needed perspective that eschews national borders in order to explore the central role that global (and particularly transatlantic) exchange played in the development of the Gothic. British, American, Continental, Caribbean, and Asian Gothic are represented in this collection, which seeks to deepen our understanding of the Gothic as not merely a national but a global aesthetic.

When the Tempest Gathers by Andrew Milburn Book Resume:

A US marine and Special Ops Commander recounts his combat experiences through Iraq and beyond in this “powerful and beautifully written memoir” (The Washington Times). These are the combat experiences of the first Marine to command a special operations task force. Andrew Milburn takes readers on his journey from Second Lieutenant to Colonel and Task Force Commander; from leading Marines through the streets of Mogadishu, Baghdad, Fallujah and Mosul to directing multi-national special operations forces in the fight against ISIS. Through it all, he shares the hard-won lessons he learned, and shows how he put them to use in a complex fight against a formidable foe. Very few personal accounts of war cover such a wide breadth of experience. Milburn tells his extraordinary story with humility and candor, describing his personal struggles with the isolation of command, post-combat trauma and family tragedy. And with the skill and insight of a natural storyteller, he makes the reader experience what it’s like to lead those who fight America’s wars. “Simply the finest war memoir to emerge from the last two decades of constant fighting.” —New York Times bestselling author Bing West
