So Many Ways of Loving by Book Resume:

So Many Ways of Loving is a novel in which, at first glance, nothing much happens - there's no espionage, no high-speed car chases, murders, or haunted houses. But in a sense, everything happens - loss, death, grief, serious illness, but also birth, unexpected romance, fresh adventures and numerous possibilities. Three women in their 50s and 60s travel through the most momentous year of their lives, and as they do so, they are reminded of just how much we depend upon family, friends and pets. Dr Max Pemberton - psychiatrist and Daily Mail columnist - who has provided the cover quote for So Many Ways of Loving, says: 'This is a poignant and insightful tale of widowhood and other challenges of later life which really resonated with my clinical experience.'

Many Ways of Love by Elena Belias Book Resume:

Title of my book is Many Ways Of Love. This Poetry book will contain Poems of many ways of love. This is my second poetry book published. These poems were Inspired by people in life who have experienced love in many different ways. From Long-lasting love to short-term love affairs, too fantasy love. From friends to people I’ve never met only seen walking by holding hands looking into one another’s eyes. Too other’s who experience ups and downs in love where they had to say good-bye, Also desires of wanting to be loved even for the moment of wondering if. Inspirations of couples who I know that are still in a loving relationship. True Love always inspires me. I’ve also turned the negative to a positive showing that We all learn from those we meet in life, although they may not be who we expect But have shared our lives with them. Life holds many experiences too learn from some good and some not so good. They have inspired me to write of both. Some Are of my own learning’s which I get to express as well, come out of my dreams Is about a guy who appears in my dreams but not in reality. One who we all some How have a fantasy man or woman who we wish would come out to reality. Whisper it is a poem about letting go and not being shy when it comes to love or Desire. Poems of wondering like Would you say will it be hit or miss. Desires like Your very touch that stays on one’s mind. Your what I desire someone who desires Someone to the point of being able have that longing desire. From Love is like a Fire where one gets burned by love’s lies. Love can be bitter love can be sweet it Makes you feel many things. Questions of love wondering does he or could I be Falling in love are questions we may all wonder when it comes to love. Even don’t want to say good-bye about someone who is in love but knows Its better to say good-bye even though it hurts inside leaves many desires sometimes Saying good-bye is best it’s one of life’s tests. A special love was inspired by my Best friend and her husband who met in high school and share that love still to this very day. Keeps me believing in love is out there for all. Unconditional love Is what most desire where love can be shared by two openly two who believe One another sharing desires and dreams. These poems gave me a chance to look into the deeper feelings of joy and pain. In life we all experience some kind of love. Shows us that life has a lot of surprises in store for all of us.

Creating Love by John Bradshaw Book Resume:

“Why are so many of us at times completely baffled by a relationship? How can we think we know someone so well and admit in the end that we hardly knew that person at all? Why do many people who work diligently and strenuously to gain wholeness and balance still feel so frustrated about having a fulfilling relationship? Why have so many people given up on love?”—from the Prologue John Bradshaw’s bestselling books and compelling PBS series have touched and changed millions of lives. Now, in Creating Love, he offers us a new way to understand our most crucial relationships—with our romantic partners and spouses, with our parents and children, with friends and co-workers, with ourselves, and with God. Bradshaw’s compassionate approach shows that many of us have been literally “entranced” by past experiences of counterfeit love, so we unknowingly re-create patterns that can never fulfill us. Here he provides both the insights and the precise tools we need to keep those destructive patterns from repeating in the present. And then he shows how we can open ourselves to the soul-building work of real love—and create healthy, loving relationships where we can be fully ourselves in every part of our lives.

Selected Short Works of Mary Hunter Austin by Mary Hunter Austin Book Resume:

THE first time of my hearing of her was at Temblor. We had come all one day between blunt whitish bluffs rising from mirage water, with a thick pale wake of dust billowing from the wheels, all the dead wall of the foothills sliding and shimmering with heat, to learn that the Walking Woman had passed us somewhere in the dizzying dimness, going down to the Tulares on her own feet. We heard of her again in the Carrisal, and again at Adobe Station, where she had passed a week before the shearing, and at last I had a glimpse of her at the Eighteen-Mile House as I went hurriedly northward on the Mojave stage; and afterward sheepherders at whose camps she slept, and cowboys at rodeos, told me as much of her way of life as they could understand. Like enough they told her as much of mine. That was very little. She was the Walking Woman, and no one knew her name, but because she was a sort of whom men speak respectfully, they called her to her face, Mrs. Walker, and she answered to it if she was so inclined. She came and went about our western world on no discoverable errand, and whether she had some place of refuge where she lay by in the interim, or whether between her seldom, unaccountable appearances in our quarter she went on steadily walking, was never learned. She came and went, oftenest in a kind of muse of travel which the untrammeled space begets, or at rare intervals flooding wondrously with talk, never of herself, but of things she had known and seen. She must have seen some rare happenings too — by report. She was at Maverick the time of the Big Snow, and at Tres Pinos when they brought home the body of Morena; and if anybody could have told whether de Borba killed Mariana for spite or defense, it would have been she, only she could not be found when most wanted. She was at Tunawai at the time of the cloud-burst, and if she had cared for it could have known most desirable things of the ways of trail-making, burrow-habiting small things.

Eight Ways of Loving God by Jeanette Flood Book Resume:

While there is a growing awareness today that different people have different "love languages," what about God? What is his love language? What does God think of the kind of love we give Him? How often do we consider: How well am I loving God? This book explores answers to these important questions, examining the life and words of Jesus Christ—the example par excellence of how to love God. With a conversational style, fresh spiritual analogies, good humor, lessons from the author's journey, and a reliance on Scripture, Church teachings, and insights of the saints, this book aims to inspire readers to follow Paul's advice in Ephesians: to "learn what is pleasing to the Lord" (Eph 5:10). Loosely based on the Beatitudes, it presents eight "love languages" of God revealed in the life and teachings of his Son: trusting Him, spending time with Him, heeding Him, apologizing when we offend Him, loving his whole family, picking up our cross, following Him, and eagerly awaiting Him This work reveals that being a Christian is really all about a relationship—a relationship of love with Love Himself. It not only demonstrates how Jesus taught and lived out each expression of love for God, but also shows his great love for each of us, giving compelling motives to daily return his love.

Strong Women, Fed-Up Men, Defeated Sons, Broken Daughters by Mark Momplaisir Book Resume:

HEALING GENERATIONAL PAIN THROUGH UNDERSTANDING. FORGIVENESS. PURPOSE. SELF-CARE. SELF-LOVE. SACRIFICIAL LOVE. As the saying goes, those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it. In Strong Women, Fed-Up Men, Defeated Sons, Broken Daughters, Mark Momplaisir calls for rebuilding a culture that was founded on racial disparity, brokenness, detrimental patterns inherited from slavery, and generational hurt. Mark’s plea for mental, spiritual, and physical healing arises from the fundamental understanding that people of African descent have endured a painful past. A past that has defined who we are, how we are, and where we are. In order to be the people we were intended to be, and to live the purposeful, peaceful, and meaningful life we were created to live, we must understand our history, the lessons our parents taught us, and how our past influences our behavior and relationships. Our communities are being torn apart by dysfunctional, unhealthy, and unproductive ways of interacting with one another. Mark explains how understanding, self-love, self-care, purpose, forgiveness, grace, and sacrificial love can create a life that is peaceful and purpose-filled. In his book, Mark shows us how to embark on the journey of healing, learning, and unlearning generational patterns so we can live a life of peace, happiness, and prosperity.

Let's Talk About Love by Carl Wilson Book Resume:

For his 2007 critically acclaimed 33 1/3 series title, Let's Talk About Love, Carl Wilson went on a quest to find his inner Céline Dion fan and explore how we define ourselves by what we call good and bad, what we love and what we hate. At once among the most widely beloved and most reviled and lampooned pop stars of the past few decades, Céline Dion's critics call her mawkish and overblown while millions of fans around the world adore her “huge pipes” and even bigger feelings. How can anyone say which side is right? This new, expanded edition goes even further, calling on thirteen prominent writers and musicians to respond to themes ranging from sentiment and kitsch to cultural capital and musical snobbery. The original text is followed by lively arguments and stories from Nick Hornby, Krist Novoselic, Ann Powers, Mary Gaitskill, James Franco, Sheila Heti and others. In a new afterword, Carl Wilson examines recent cultural changes in love and hate, including the impact of technology and social media on how taste works (or doesn't) in the 21st century.

In 1988, The General Conference of the United Methodist Church restored class leaders and class meetings to the Book of Discipline after an absence of fifty years. In this volume, David Lowes Watson explains what the recovery of this tradition can mean for congregations, and offers some guidelines for the revitalized office of class leader. Adapting the later Methodist class meeting as a pastoral subdivision of the congregation, Watson shows how class leaders, under the supervision of the pastor, can nurture the discipline of other church members in light of a ÒGeneral Rule of DisciplineÓ derived from the early Methodist societies: ÒTo witness to Jesus Christ in the world, and to follow his teachings through acts of compassion, justice, worship, and devotion, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.Ó This volume is the second in a trilogy : Covenant Discipleship, Class Leaders, and Forming Christian Disciples.

Most Loving Mere Folly by Ellis Peters Book Resume:

A post-WWII love affair is eroded by suspicions of murder, from the Edgar Award–winning author of the Chronicles of Brother Cadfael. Talented potter Suspiria Freeland and her painter husband, Theo, survived the Blitz and are living among fellow artists in a bombed-out London suburb. But since the war’s terror ended, Theo’s drunken self-loathing has become even harder for his long-suffering wife to bear. When Dennis Forbes enters their lives, Suspiria is immediately drawn to the handsome young mechanic. Though he obviously shares her passionate attraction, he is fourteen years her junior and she, of course, is married . . . until Theo’s lifeless body is discovered. Theo’s death from poison leaves his widow free to love and marry her much younger paramour. But their newfound happiness is soon threatened on all sides—by a community’s gossip and mistrust, by a legal system determined to enact justice at any price, and by the lovers themselves, as suspicion continues to mount that one of them is a murderer. This stand-alone novel of forbidden love, suspicion, and suspense is further evidence why the Financial Times called Edgar, Agatha, and Gold Dagger Award–winning author Ellis Peters “a cult figure of crime fiction.”

Celine Dion's Let's Talk About Love by Carl Wilson Book Resume:

Non-fans regard Céline Dion as ersatz and plastic, yet to those who love her, no one could be more real, with her impoverished childhood, her (creepy) manager-husband's struggle with cancer, her knack for howling out raw emotion. There's nothing cool about Céline Dion, and nothing clever. That's part of her appeal as an object of love or hatred - with most critics and committed music fans taking pleasure (or at least geeky solace) in their lofty contempt. This book documents Carl Wilson's brave and unprecedented year-long quest to find his inner Céline Dion fan, and explores how we define ourselves in the light of what we call good and bad, what we love and what we hate.

The Child from the Sea by Elizabeth Goudge Book Resume:

Against the pomp and pageantry of turbulent seventeenth century England, Elizabeth Goudge weaves the poignant tale of Lucy Walter, the proud and beautiful secret wife of Charles II. From her early childhood in a castle by the sea in Wales evoked as only Elizabeth Goudge can evoke the joys and pangs of childhood to her tragic estrangement from the king and her death in Paris at the age of twenty-eight, Lucy Walter lived to the full a life of intense joy and equally intense drama. Miss Goudge portrays brilliantly a young love almost too ecstatic to bear. Equally moving is her characterization of Lucy a spirited woman caught up in the cataclysmic wars and disruptive revolution of a tumultuous era. London at the time of the Great Fire, Paris when British royalty fled to the sanctuary of the Louvre, Brussels and The Hague against this rich panoramic background a master storyteller traces the life and loves of an extraordinary woman. The Child from the Sea is a superbly colorful and romantic historical novel alive with brilliant cameos and infused with a spiritual essence rare in our times.

Cosmopolitan Desires by Mariano Siskind Book Resume:

Mariano Siskind’s groundbreaking debut book redefines the scope of world literature, particularly regarding the place of Latin America in its imaginaries and mappings. In Siskind’s formulation, world literature is a modernizing discursive strategy, a way in which cultures negotiate their aspirations to participate in global networks of cultural exchange, and an original tool to reorganize literary history. Working with novels, poems, essays, travel narratives, and historical documents, Siskind reads the way Latin American literary modernity was produced as a global relation, from the rise of planetary novels in the 1870s and the cosmopolitan imaginaries of modernism at the turn of the twentieth century, to the global spread of magical realism. With its unusual breadth of reference and firm but unobtrusive grounding in philosophy, literary theory, and psychoanalysis, Cosmopolitan Desires will have a major impact in the fields of Latin American studies and comparative literature.

Who Catharted by Blair Styra Book Resume:

Life is speaking to us all the time; it’s full of funny, sad, perplexing and downright astounding stories all day, everyday. We are not only participating in these stories, but creating them every nano second of our Mind, Body, Spirit existence. All to often we let life simply swallow us up and our experiences seem to disappear in a myriad of systems and structures, rules, routines, feelings, actions and thoughts. It’s so important that we all stop and listen to what we are saying to ourselves and through the way we are living our lives and what the world is saying back to us! Over the last 27 years as the channel for Tabaash living my life has sharpened me up enabling me to be a greater observer and participant in my life. I know for sure that I have literally created all my life, all its realities. In my first book “Don’t Change The Channel” I said “Being a spiritual being doesn’t mean you stop being a human being”. I have been on my “soul road” since my mid twenties and now in my late fifties life is still a perplexing expedition offering up more to create, more ways of growing and more ways of growing up! Despite my soul understanding I find that I can still be a complete ass about some things, make mistakes, fall over be afraid and all the other human nature things that we are all involved in. That’s the journey though and its not that those things are good or bad but they are the journey and obviously at some point in the expedition of life we get to the place where we can see how to make better arrangements. And so while we are doing this lets remember that we are all so brilliant and yet we can all still be so silly at times with the way we feel and think and participate in life. Its important that we are serious in our intentions but at times not take ourselves so seriously and to laugh at some of our endeavors and no doubt along the way offering up a good laugh for others.

Is there a science to love? In this groundbreaking book, psychiatrist and neuroscientist Amir Levine and psychologist Rachel S. F. Heller reveal how an understanding of attachment theory-the most advanced relationship science in existence today-can help us find and sustain love. Attachment theory forms the basis for many bestselling books on the parent/child relationship, but there has yet to be an accessible guide to what this fascinating science has to tell us about adult romantic relationships-until now. Attachment theory owes its inception to British psychologist and psychoanalyst John Bowlby, who in the 1950s examined the tremendous impact that our early relationships with our parents or caregivers has on the people we become. Also central to attachment theory is the discovery that our need to be in a close relationship with one or more individuals is embedded in our genes. In Attached, Levine and Heller trace how these evolutionary influences continue to shape who we are in our relationships today. According to attachment theory, every person behaves in relationships in one of three distinct ways: *ANXIOUS people are often preoccupied with their relationships and tend to worry about their partner's ability to love them back. *AVOIDANT people equate intimacy with a loss of independence and constantly try to minimize closeness. *SECURE people feel comfortable with intimacy and are usually warm and loving. Attached guides readers in determining what attachment style they and their mate (or potential mates) follow. It also offers readers a wealth of advice on how to navigate their relationships more wisely given their attachment style and that of their partner. An insightful look at the science behind love, Attached offers readers a road map for building stronger, more fulfilling connections.

Infamous for the murder of Maria Iribarne, the artist Juan Pablo Castel is now writing a detailed account of his relationship with the victim from his prison cell: obsessed from the first moment he saw her examining one of his paintings, Castel had become fixated on her over the next months and fantasized over how they might meet again. When he happened upon her one day, a relationship was formed which swiftly convinced him of their mutual love. But Castel's growing paranoia would lead him to destroy the one thing he truly cared about... Sabato's first novel El Túnel (translated as 'The Outsider' or 'The Tunnel'), written in 1948, is framed as the confession of the painter Juan Pablo Castel, who has murdered the only woman capable of understanding him. Sabato's novels were praised by authors such as Albert Camus and Graham Greene.

“My way is one that is full of confidence and love.” —St. Thérèse of Lisieux Through her autobiography and an extensive collection of letters, St. Thérèse helped people understand nothing was too little to give Jesus, and nothing done out of love for him was insignificant. Perhaps this is why so many lives still resonate with hers. It is easy to feel insignificant and unimportant. Yet, the clear and compelling language of her story and her letters remains the perfect antidote to such feelings. Fr. Gary Caster writes, “While the language she uses might be new to you, the insights she offers are as eternal as the God who loves us and longs for each of us to be united with him, in the Son, through the Holy Spirit, for all eternity.” These inspiring words from her writings have been selected and arranged according to important themes of the spiritual life: confidence, holiness, humility, abandonment, obedience, the love of God, mercy, charity, and suffering. Her devotion to Jesus, Mary, and the Eucharist shine through all of her writings.

"The poems in this selection are accompanied by pictures from photographs taken by the author which invite the reader to work out his or her own interpretation of them. Like the poems, some are easy to read, others more difficult, but they complement the text in various ways. The poems are different from my previous collection, Inventing Parents, published in 2003., which contained several sequences, and in which the predominant note was elegiac. They fall into three groups: one takes for topics travel, history and the world today; the second group grows out of personal issues, including encounters with love, illness and death; and the third group consists of poems that offer a more humorous or sardonic commentary on aspects of present-day life"

So much has changed about Catholic intellectual life in the half century since the end of the Second Vatican Council that it has become difficult to locate the core concepts that make up the tradition. In the Lógos of Love is a collection of essays that grew out of a 2013 conference on Catholic intellectual life co-sponsored by the University of Dayton and the Institute for Advanced Catholic Studies at the University of Southern California. The essays, written by scholars of theology, history, law, and media studies of religion, trace the history of this intellectual tradition in order to craft new tools for understanding the present day and approaching the future. Each essay explores both the promise of Catholic intellectual life and its various contemporary predicaments. How does a changed media landscape affect the way Catholicism is depicted, and the way its adherents understand and communicate among themselves? What resources can the tradition offer for reflection on new understandings of sexuality and gender? How can and should US Catholic intellectual life embrace and enhance-and introduce students to-the new ways in which Catholicism is becoming a more global tradition? What is the role of scholars in disciplines beyond theology? Of scholars who are not Catholic? Of scholars in universities not sponsored by Catholic religious orders or dioceses? By providing context for and proposing responses to these questions, the scholars invite discussion and reflection from a wide range of readers who have one important thing in common-a stake in sustaining a vibrant, flourishing intellectual tradition.

The Caroline by John K. Sutherland Book Resume:

An attempted murder one dark night on the river disrupted the lives of two families and deeply affected the lives of two individuals from those same two families for the next five years. They had been forced to make choices that took them far apart before being serendipitously brought together once more. The would-be murderers, three of them, lost one of their own soon after that night from wounds he had received at the hands of their intended victim. Three years later, a second of them fortuitously became the victim of that same man they would have killed. The third and last one, attempting to recover the failing fortunes of the family in a poker game on the river, saw the means to cheat his opponent and at the same time to be rid of his sister who had unexpectedly shown up again. His first attempt on her life as they had travelled upriver had failed, and a second attempt would be difficult now that she expected it and now that she had a protector. He saw another way to be rid of her: in a poker game where he would wager her away. If only it could be that simple. He had no idea the trouble he would cause by that act. The unexpected outcome of that game brought two individuals closer together and eventually healed the initial disruption that had seen them torn apart five years earlier.
