Pariah by , Book Resume:

The third book in the thrilling Donovan series, a sci-fi action adventure set on a treacherous alien planet where corporate threats and dangerous creatures imperil the lives of the colonists. Corporate assassin Tamarland Benteen's last hope is the survey ship Vixen. With a load of scientists aboard under the supervision of Dr. Dortmund Weisbacher, Vixen is tasked with the first comprehensive survey of the newly discovered planet called Donovan. Given that back in Solar System, Boardmember Radcek would have Benteen's brain dissected, he's particularly motivated to make his escape. The transition that should have taken Vixen years is instantaneous. Worse, a space ship is already orbiting Donovan, and, impossibly, human settlements have been established on the planet. For Dortmund Weisbacher, this is a violation of the most basic conservation tenets. Donovan is an ecological disaster. Down on Donovan, Talina Perez takes refuge in the ruins of Mundo Base with the wild child, Kylee Simonov. But the quetzals are playing their own deadly game: one that forces Talina and Kylee to flee farther into the wilderness. Too bad they're stuck with Dortmund Weisbacher in the process. Back in Port Authority, Dan Wirth discovers that he's not the meanest or deadliest man on the planet. Tamarland Benteen is making his play for control of PA. And in the final struggle, if Benteen can't have it, he'll destroy it all.

The Pariah in Contemporary Society by Marcienne Martin Book Resume:

Being the ugly duckling in a family or the pariah in a society amounts to living in marked and implicit difference, indifference, or even cruelty. The research to which this book is dedicated articulates the concept of the “pariah,” and it is through the various filters mentioned above that it proceeds to its analysis. Besides these, it also studies the notion of the “pariah” using the different strata that make up human society, such as literature. The book also presents the perceptions of lexicologists and psychologists, because behind the word there is the object, which is understood differently by the human psyche because it is included in value systems varying from one sociocultural group to another.

Pariah Politics by Shamit Saggar Book Resume:

Pariah Politics breaks new ground in examining the issue of western Islamist extremism from the perspective of government. It links underlying causes to the capacity of governments to respond directly and to influence others. The book contains four main messages. Focusing on causes, not symptoms. The book identifies four big causal drivers: settled disadvantage, social isolation, grievance and oppositional cultures, and the volatile dynamics of global Islam. Governments can hope to influence the first two, using existing and innovative policy levers. The scope to make big changes in the latter two is severely limited. The circle of tacit support. Action by government to counter terrorism has relied too heavily on security policy measures to intercept or disrupt men of violence. This emphasis is misplaced. Though important, this fails to address the moral oxygen for violence and confrontation that exists within Muslim communities. Better focus and better levers. Ministers and officials need to think and act smart. They need to push ahead with social inclusion policies to broaden opportunity. They need to make more use of community-based strategies to isolate extremism. They need to promote civil society actions so that affected communities can take control of their own reputational future. And, they desperately need to avoid making things worse. Reputations matter. The pariah status of western Muslims has worsened by the fallout from terrorism. Few have anything good to say about western Muslims; still fewer can imagine an optimistic future. Yet earlier demonised groups, such as Jews or Asian refugees, have overcome significant hurdles, moving from pariahs to paragons. A credible willingness to tackle extremism is the most important first step to a reputational turnaround.

Pariah By: Javed Iqbal Sheikh An active volcano has its own period of dormancy and eruptions – beyond the control of its victims. The tyrant’s rule supposedly ended after the death of the military ruler in 1988. But, the people are still trying to find the ways to explain his impact on the culture and history of the nation. Despite the enormity of the loss of a generation, this is a country that still advocates a manipulator of the worst kind. Like an epic poem, Pariah preaches love for humanity and God. It is a depiction of love bond within blood and beyond. It is a reflection on friendship and the story of an era, and how a nation keeps on living.

Ten poignant and perceptive stories from one of the most distinctive voices in Southern literature In these deeply affecting tales, Joan Williams captures with heart-wrenching clarity the pain and confusion of characters struggling to come to terms with a changing world. “The Morning and the Evening,” which would later be expanded into Williams’s award-winning novel of the same name, is an exquisite and unsettling portrait of a mute man’s isolation. In “Spring Is Now,” a Mississippi town grapples with its prejudices as integration becomes a reality. “No Love for the Lonely” is the touching and gently humorous story of a bachelor liberated and bewildered by the death of his overbearing sister. In the vivid and unsettling title story, a troubled housewife faces her demons and mourns the life she never had. Graceful, elegiac, and authentic, the stories of Joan Williams are marked by their compassion and clear-eyed insight.
