You Have Me

Have Me [Pdf/ePub] eBook

You Have Me by Larry D. Worden Book Resume:

You Have Me is the inspiring, Christian memoir of an average man, who while being buffeted by the storms of life, runs head-long into the power and very presence of Almighty God. Through these pages the author reveals one mans testimony of the faithfulness of our Lord. It shows that God is truly not a respecter of persons but desires to use His children, who will be obedient to Him, in fulfilling His mysterious and eternal purposes. This is not a book about Bible theology or interpretation. But rather, it is a lifetime account of one mans trials and misfortunes. By reading of his grief, passion and subsequent victories, one can take hope in his/her own life that God is readily accessible and holds the answers to all of lifes problems for those who will call upon Him. The writer grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and after high school moved with his family to Springfield. He graduated from Drury University with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Psychology and Business Administration. His first job was with a hometown bank and after graduation moved into industry. After 18 years in business he felt a call on his life to fulfill a season of service for a national childrens institute and later as business manager for a large church and Christian school. He is currently president of a non-profit agency called Christian Senior Ministries and is an administrator with the Southwest Missouri Office on Aging, supervising six area senior centers. Larry lives with his wife, Carmen, at Table Rock Lake near Branson, Missouri. The highlights of their lives are the many children and grandchildren who come to the lake to visit.

They Shall Not Have Me

Have Me [Pdf/ePub] eBook

They Shall Not Have Me by Jean Helion Book Resume:

The French painter Jean Hélion’s unique and deeply moving account of his experiences in Nazi prisoner-of-war camps prefigures the even darker stories that would emerge from the concentration camps. This serious adventure tale begins with Hélion’s infantry platoon fleeing from the German army and warplanes as they advanced through France in the early days of the war. The soldiers chant as they march and run, “They shall not have me!” but are quickly captured and sent to hard labor. Writing in English in 1943, after his risky escape to freedom in the United States, Hélion vividly depicts the sights, sounds, and smells of the camps, and shrewdly sizes up both captors and captured. In the deep humanity, humor, and unsentimental intelligence of his observations, we can recognize the artist whose long career included friendships with the likes of Mondrian, Giacometti, and Balthus, and an important role in shaping modern art movements. Hélion’s picture of almost two years without his art is a self-portrait of the artist as a man.

I have Cancer But It Doesn't Have Me

Have Me [Pdf/ePub] eBook

I have Cancer But It Doesn't Have Me by Lloyd Deitsch Book Resume:

My story really begins early in the fall of the year of 2003. I was starting to experience the loss of some of my strength. My left arm and leg to be exact. No real ache or pain. I had over extended the bottom of my left foot a couple of months ago. I was transferring a patient from his bed to his wheel chair at my work site. I was working as a medical assistant at a health care site. I was taken by fellow worker to a company doctor. He put me in a boot to support my weight, keeping off my foot. I missed a couple of weeks work. First work I had missed in three years. The foot seemed improved after a time. A short time later, my knee on both of my lets started giving me a whole lot of trouble. I was now having pain in both my legs and both of my knees. I began to think that maybe it was actually caused by the weather. The weather was starting to cool down. Fall and winter were approaching. I was beginning to slow down on my job. I was employed by Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation. The job of medical assistant requires that you are in good health. My leg and arm had gotten so bad I just couldn’t do my job as it should be done.

Grandma and Art Got Me off the Farm

Have Me [Pdf/ePub] eBook

Grandma and Art Got Me off the Farm by Ethel Christensen Book Resume:

Abandoned by her father and rejected by her mother, 4 year-old Jennie is taken without explanation from her kindergarten class and driven through the night to live with her grandparents. They live on a farm where gophers pop out of the ground, turkey gobblers give chase, the bathroom is in a little house near the woods, and which is austere and culturally limited. Almost from the beginning she tries to run away back to live with her mother in Minneapolis. But her grandparents, although undemonstrative, steadfastly support her. Grandpa helps her with her homework at night sitting around the kitchen table lit by a kerosene lamp, she sits on his lap, while riding the binder, and curls up with him on the sofa at nap time. She helps her Grandmother with the chickens, picking eggs and feeding the pigs. But conflicts arise. Especially with her aunt , Hilda who is spiteful and humiliating. Jennie wants to run away and find her father in Canada but all her attempts fail. As far back as in kindergarten, Jennie liked to draw. So in first grade when she was asked to draw the picture placed on the blackboard in front of the class, she worked hard to copy the exact likeness. The picture was The Last Supper. After that, she became known as the class artist. Hilda felt Jennie was wasting her time drawing and discouraged her. Reading, another of Jennie's interests, was also considered wasteful. All through high school Jennie continued to be the school artist. During this time she became attached to Frank, a future farmer with a kind, uncomplicated view of life. He loved her but knew her dream was to leave the farm and go to study art. After graduating from high school Jennie is offered a job in Washington, D. C. Her grandmother slips her thirty dollars and urges her to leave at once, before Aunt Hilda can interfere. Her new life in the city is a shock and a revelation. Jennie discovers art galleries, takes her first real art lesson using pastels, and begins to acquire a new set of goals and values. Two years later, she returns to Minneapolis and enrolls at the University of Minnesota in art. Life is a struggle as she has to work to support herself and pay for her education. While working at one of the her jobs, she meets Jim, a young psychology student who is using the G.I. Bill to attend university. Soon they marry, unknown to either Jennies' mother or her aunt Hilda. Jim is very supportive of Jennie's interest in art. Between leaving the farm and starting university a series of tragedies occurred. Her grandparents diedfirst her grandfather, then her grandmother. Earlier a favorite uncle shot himself. Another uncle died under questionable circumstances and her mother becomes committed to a mental hospital while her father remained a mystery in spite of efforts to locate him. After graduating from university, she paints and exhibits her work, exploring new directions of expression. It is not easy to find success. When galleries are either hanging her work upside down or failing to pay her, they disappear from sight. Her first real success comes from entering a painting in an exhibition in New York. Titled Subjective-Objective, the painting and received first prize. From then on Jennie's goal to become an accomplished artist plays an important part in her life. Still, she couldn't forget the farm where her uncle now lives. One day, she decided to go back to the place she'd grown up and had wanted to escape. Seeing the faded wallpaper on the upstairs hall the stippled paint walls, the empty bookcase, Jennie becomes aware she has slowly moved from the austere and culturally limited setting of the farm to a new world, one of painting, art, and intellectual interactions. She'd left the farm and could not return. Back in Toronto, Jennie walked into their condo, past th

Where Have the Old Words Got Me?

Where Have the Old Words Got Me? by Ralph Maud Book Resume:

Although Dylan Thomas is the one of the most well-known poets of the twentieth century, much of his poetry is considered obscure and difficult, and readers and critics tend to concentrate on those poems that can be most easily understood. Not since the early sixties has there been an attempt to explicate the full corpus of Dylan Thomas's Collected Poems. In Where Have the Old Words Got Me? Ralph Maud tackles Thomas's entire work, giving special attention to more difficult and obscure poems. He makes valuable use of Thomas's letters as edited by Paul Ferris in his authoritative Collected Letters volume, bringing the whole man and his work into view.

God Had Me in His Hands All the Time

Have Me [Pdf/ePub] eBook

God Had Me in His Hands All the Time by Willie M. Graham’Hoefer Book Resume:

GOD HAD ME In His Hands All The Time is a true story of mental, verbal and physical abuse of a child from memory. Some of the names have been changed. Even though I am an adult, I can remember most of it like it was yesterday, while part of my mind seem to put up a shield to block out the abuse. I can feel the pressure on my brain, but it wont release it. Childens minds are very fragile thats why a good and well nurtured environment is so important during their growth. I knew God had to be carrying me like the poem Foot Prints in the Sand, because otherwise I would not have survived. I couldnt see it or understand why it was happening to me. All I ever knew was hurt and pain. The abuse scared me. Through the years I looked for love in the wrong places and in the wrong people. Growing up unloved and unwanted makes you yearn just that much harder, because you never stop looking and taking chances without thinking. Wanting to belong and loved is what food is to the body in order to survive. You always tell yourself this person will love me. Every time I put my heart out on the line it get crushed. I always found myself struggling to survive, even as an adult. I felt beat down with no self esteem. I found TRUE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE for the first time when I accepted JESUS the CHRIST in my life. I was so shocked because I was on the receiving end of love this time. Something I never had before.

Forgive Me Father for I Have Sinned

Have Me [Pdf/ePub] eBook

Forgive Me Father for I Have Sinned by Julia Villegas Phelps Book Resume:

Although there is a great deal of attention given – quite rightly so – to pedophile priests, my experience with clergy sexual abuse was also a nightmare. It started out by my being raped as a teenager by a priest who I thought I could trust and then being coerced into having an affair with him for fear of losing my children. A skilled manipulator, especially of vulnerable teenagers and young women who had challenges in their lives, we all thought a priest could help us overcome our particular situations. Once he gained my trust and pretended to be a friend, he set about a path to manipulate me toward a path to a living hell that put my spiritual health and soul in danger. I saw him as a man of the cloth, a man of God who would help me and my children without expecting anything in return. Little did I know I was not his fi rst victim, nor would I be his last, lured by his promises to leave the church for me, and by his word that God himself had sent him to save us.

You Had Me At Goodbye

You Had Me At Goodbye by Jane Blackwood Book Resume:

I'll Just Hold My Breath, Fancy Pants. . . Oh no. This is so not happening. Her whole life Kat Taylor has been reaching for the brass ring and coming away with nothing but sore knuckles. Not this time. Her flighty Aunt Lila gave her a charming house on Martha's Vineyard for the summer, and now some arrogant, amused, and, okay, surprisingly hunky, British author named Lawrence Kendall says he has a claim to the same cottage! If he thinks that just because he's suave and good-looking and. . .and. . .has that hairy chest and great accent that he can woo her into leaving, well, he can die trying. . . Fine, You Bloody Well Do That, Irrational Woman. . . Kat Taylor may be strange--and rather bewitching--in her foot-stamping protestations, but she is not getting the house. It was granted to Lawrence first and that is that. So. There we are. Very sorry, nice to meet you, have a lovely summer--somewhere else. The last thing Lawrence needs to add to his writer's block is some woman skulking about the house, humming, looking distractingly attractive. Bloody hell. She's not budging. Right. Perhaps the only thing to do is make a temporary peace and ignore each other. . .for two months. Right. Should be no trouble at all. . . Jane Blackwood began her career as a journalist, a line of work which proved life doesn't always have a happy ending. Deciding to take matters into her own hands, Jane, after twelve years working as a reporter, switched careers and now lives in a world where happy endings are not only possible, they are mandatory. It's a much nicer place to be. Jane lives in New England with her husband, three children and their much-loved one-eyed cat. Jane loves to hear from readers.
